BBQ Beef Brisket

It’s been a crazy busy last few weeks! I started a new job and this never ending winter has been sucking my energy levels. But I have been working on some new recipes. I got inspired by this great BBQ brisket recipe from A Family Feast (see here). I tweaked it slightly and made it one Saturday in the crock pot. It came out fantastic, so good in fact that I had to kick my husband out of the kitchen because he kept sneaking bites. I felt like the mom in “A Christmas Story” with the turkey. I learned two things: one, I will be making this again and two, I need to buy a bigger brisket because 2 pounds wasn’t enough! Pulled pork is something that I enjoy making regularly. It’s tasty and versatile. I make this in my crock pot so this is good to make if you have a few hours to let the pork really cook and get tender. Some people like to slow cook this with soda but I prefer spices alone. I recently got a bag of apples and needed something to do with them since I knew we wouldn’t eat all of them before they went bad so I decided to make some applesauce. I used some Connecticut grown Cortland apples which gave the sauce a very apple cider like taste, which was fantastic!
