Creamy Chicken Penne

There is something about an awesome cheese sauce that makes the whole world better. This sauce makes you roll back your eyes and just say “Yes!”, it’s creamy and sticks to the penne perfectly. This is something you want to make immediately! 

Ingredients:

Chicken

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon dry mustard

1 teaspoon thyme

Salt and pepper

Pasta

1 box ziti

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons flour

2 cloves garlic, chopped

1 tablespoon onion powder

1/4 cup chicken broth

1 tablespoon dry mustard

8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

2 cups whole milk

1 tablespoon basil

1 tablespoon oregano

1/2 tablespoon crushed red pepper

Salt and pepper

Grated Parmesan cheese for topping

Creamy Chicken Penne

Ingredients: 

1) To cook the chicken, heat olive oil over medium high heat and add chicken pieces. Sprinkle mustard, thyme, salt and pepper over chicken and cook till browned. Move to plate and set aside till ready.

2) Boil salted water and cook ziti till al dente. Drain and return to pot. Add chicken, mix and set aside.

3) In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk till combined. Add garlic, chicken broth, onion powder and mustard. Mix well and cook for a minute till thickened.

4) Add milk and whisk till well combined. Add basil, oregano, red pepper, salt and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes till thickened.

5) Add cheese and stir to melt. Pour into pot and mix with chicken and pasta. Serve with Parmesan cheese on top.
