I used to be really picky about seafood. Like I wouldn’t even eat it unless it was fried clams. Then I slowly started opening up to trying new things and now I’m getting better about trying different things. The only thing I will not eat is canned tuna, I do not like it at all but I saw a tuna steak on sale at the grocery store so I decided to try it and see if I like that. This came out delicious, not overly fishy tasting. It was a nice, mellow flavor.
Ingredients:
1 thick cut tuna steak (about 3-4 oz)
1 tablespoon cumin
1/2 tablespoon ground mustard
1/2 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon chili powder
Instructions:
1) Place a non-stick grill pan or skillet on the stove and put it on high heat.
2) Mix spices in dish and coat both sides of the steak with the rub.
3) Make sure the pan is very hot and dry and sear the tuna. About 35 seconds on each side for medium rare. You want the middle to still be pretty rare or the steak will end up really tough and just not that good.
4) Remove from pan and slice. Serve immediately.
