Monte Cristo

Monte Cristo

I love sandwiches! There is something so satisfying about an awesome sandwich. It can be whatever you want it to be. Full of meat and cheese or brimming with veggies that taste amazing. A Monte Cristo is a pretty decadent sandwich. Full of meat, cheese and then dipped in a batter and fried……this isn’t a quick snack, this is a meal. I loved this at first bite.

Ingredients:

Oil (for frying)

Sandwich

3 slices wheat bread

2 slices turkey

2 slices ham

1 slice American cheese

1 slice swiss cheese

Batter

1 egg

1 cup water

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1 1/2 cup flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

Instructions:

1) Start by mixing all the batter ingredients in a large bowl and set aside.

2) Place turkey and swiss on one slice of bread and ham and American on the other. Place remaining bread slice in the middle and secure with toothpicks.

3) Add enough oil to your pan to be able to get a good fry on both sides. Dip the sandwich into the batter, making sure both sides get coated and place into hot oil. Fry till golden.

4) Once done, let drain on paper towels for a minutes while removing the toothpicks.
