There comes a time when you read a recipe and you find an ingredient that you don’t usually keep on hand. In my case it’s buttermilk. I use it occasionally but not enough to always buy it and keep it around.
So I learned how to make my own buttermilk, and it’s stupidly easy.
All you need is two ingredients. Milk and white vinegar and then you add 1 tablespoon of vinegar for every cup of milk. Then you let it sit for five minutes before use.
That’s it. Now you don’t need to buy a bunch of buttermilk, if you can find it, for a recipe that only needs a cup or two.
I love the simple things.

Stopping by from the Blogging Collective. Great tip! Thanks so much! I see recipes requiring buttermilk that I’d love to try, but never wanted to buy the buttermilk. Now I don’t have to. Awesome! Bookmarking this.
