Hot Toddy

Hot Toddy

I really hate getting sick. It happens to all of us eventually but life responsibilities and children do not cater to the sick. I’ve been fighting a nasty cold the past few days and I’m finally starting to come out the other side. I tried not to load up on the cold meds too much because I’m not a fan of how loopy they make me. I decided to try a hot toddy one night and see how that faired out. A hot toddy is old school medicine, I guarantee a few of your grandparents were making these when they and their kids were sick. This is the adult version, but you can leave out the alcohol if you are making it for a child.

Ingredients:

3 oz bourbon

3 oz lemon juice

2 tablespoons honey

8-10 oz very warm water

Instructions:

1) Place kettle on stove and heat till until it’s barely starting to whistle.

2) Put bourbon, lemon juice and honey in the cup.

3) Pour water and stir until the spoon is clear of all honey.

Relax and sip this slowly. It works quick. My nose was clearer, my throat was no longer like swallowing razor blades and it took the edge off of my blah feeling. If you are using the alcohol version, I would not mix it with any cold meds. Enjoy the bit of relaxation while it lasts.
