The perfect accessory to any spicy meal is enchilada sauce! It gives the perfect amount of flavor to your enchiladas that isn’t overwhelming or too spicy. This Homemade Enchilada Sauce is perfect if you have a last minute craving for something but you don’t want to run out to the store. This is easy to make and quick to throw together. I think it’s always important to have a homemade option of the great things you love and once this is done simmering, it’s ready to pour all over your enchiladas for a delicious meal! Enjoy! Ingredients:
3 tablespoons olive oil
1.5 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons chili powder
2.5 cups chicken broth
6 oz tomato paste
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon sugar
Salt and pepper
Instructions:
1) Heat oil in a saucepan. Sprinkle flour over oil and whisk until smooth. Cook for one minute, constantly whisking. Add chili powder and whisk some more.
2) Pour in broth, paste, oregano, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer.
3) Let simmer for 15 minutes until thickened. Let cool before jarring.
