I’m big on pasta recipes. The regular sauce is super easy but it can get old quick. I’ve made fun pasta mixes in the past, like my Spicy Kielbasa Pasta or my Skillet Tuna Penne and they always turn out delicious! This Bacon Broccoli Penne has a delicious cheese sauce and is full of flavor thanks to the bacon and broccoli included. This will be on the table in less than 30 minutes and you will love it!
Ingredients:
6 slices bacon
10 oz broccoli florets
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
Salt and pepper
2 cups milk
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 cup sharp cheddar, shredded
16 oz penne pasta
Instructions:
1) Cook pasta to package instructions until al dente. Add broccoli in at last two minutes of cooking time and drain.
2) In a large skillet, cook bacon till crisp. Place on paper towels to drain and crumble. Remove some of the grease and add the butter on medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour until a roux forms. Slowly add in milk, salt and pepper and cook for a few minutes until thickened.
3) Mix in the cheese until a nice thick sauce forms. Add the pasta and broccoli and mix till well coated. Sprinkle bacon on top and serve.
