I got my first mention on another blog! FabulousBlogging.com does a great feature on First Year Bloggers where people can write about starting their blog and any helpful tips that they have for other new bloggers. I’m so happy to be posted and I want to thank Julie over at Fabulous Blogging for putting me up there! Here’s the link to see for yourself!
I realized recently that I had not made lasagna in awhile. I enjoy making this kind because it has got some healthy veggies but still has meat, sauce and cheesy goodness which makes the men in my house happy!
Today the one month prison sentence for Stacey Rambold ended in Montana. For those who are unaware of who this man is, he is a predator (although many still refer to him as a teacher) who raped his student Cherice Moralez, who was fourteen years old. Rambold has admitted to his crime but when he faced sentencing, the judge gave him thirty-one days in jail. Thirty-one days. For raping a fourteen year old girl. The reason that was given for such a lenient sentence according to Judge G. Todd Baugh, she “seemed older than her chronological age” and she was “as much in control of the situation.” Suffice to say, his comments fueled a firestorm and many are calling for a harsher sentence and the resignation of the judge, which is much deserved. Cherice never saw any of this unfold because due to the constant harassment from schoolmates and the town for reporting her teacher, she committed suicide at seventeen years old before the trial started.
Today is the 20th anniversary that Boy Meets World premiered on ABC. I was eight years old when Cory Matthews and his lessons about life were introduced to me and I have to say that I wish more shows were like this. Maybe it was because I was a total ’90’s kid and I’m just really reminiscing about my childhood but I was a huge fan of this show. Especially now looking at the shows of today and what our children are watching. I can’t imagine I will ever see Danielle Fishel twerking on a man twice her age. I sound like a cranky old lady whenever I talk about the shows geared toward teens today (“When I was your age we had real television!”-that is a phrase I have actually uttered to my cousin on occasion), but seriously, I do wish there were more shows like this geared toward the younger generation. The show always brings up a furor of bright-eyed excitement whenever it is mentioned to people my age. Considering it was never a huge ratings plug or an award show dominating powerhouse, it was still one of the most beloved shows of the 1990’s.
We all have those moments as mothers. Those moments that make us look at the clock and wonder “Is drinking at 10 am really a bad thing?” Cloudy, with a Chance of Wine answers that age old question with some absolutely hysterical stories. Dani is a stay-at-home mom and by the tales she tells…..well I would be drunk way before her. Do you want to hear some priceless mom moments or hear about why you don’t sit on public toilets, then this is your motherland. Come home, have a drink and don’t feel so bad because we are all doing the same thing and probably worse than you!
Seriously though, if you don’t pop over and check this site out you are missing out! She’s great!

There are a few reasons why my husband and I are taking so long to update our house.
A) We are lazy
B) We are poor
and C) We work different shifts to save money on daycare so when we are together the last thing we want to talk about is remodeling.
But I do what I can. For example, the shower curtain. It’s really something that most people don’t even see unless they use your bathroom but it does give a certain look to your bathroom. I had one of the cheap plastic ones attached to the shower rod that came with the house. I hated this thing! It always got stuck and caused the plastic to rip all the time. [Read more…]
Football is back! I love this time of year, as I have stated previously (10 Reasons I Love Fall), but I really love that you get to close the windows and use the oven without turning the house into a sauna. I love making this because it’s cheap, easy and really good! It’s a crock pot recipe also which I’m a fan of on the lack of huge effort part. [Read more…]
So I finally go to watch the season premiere of Sons of Anarchy last night and thanks to some blabbing on Facebook (Side note: don’t be that guy who puts spoilers all over the internet without warning when an episode ends. You make more enemies than friends.) I already had a gist of what was going to happen. Stop reading now if you have not watched the season six premiere of SOA.
There are certain days where you pause and take stock of your life. You look back at the person you were then and the person you have become over time after various experiences and life changes. Yesterday was that day for me.
Ten years ago on September 9, 2003 I started dating the man who would eventually become my husband.
I love this recipe so much. It’s so easy to prepare and cook. I usually buy a bag of frozen tilapia individually wrapped by the bag. This recipe works for both defrosted or fresh fish. This is something that every time you have this, the first bite is just amazing every time. The marinade complements the fish perfectly. [Read more…]
