I recently has the opportunity to visit the brand new Boscov’s store that’s opening up at the Meriden Westfield Mall. For those unfamiliar, Boscov’s is a department store that has a lot of locations all over Pennsylvania and New Jersey, along with locations in Ohio, New York, Delaware and Maryland. This new store is the first location to be opening in Connecticut and I was excited to get the chance to go before the grand opening to the public.
The day I visited was luckily a beautiful fall day so I got to see some great fall foliage on the drive up. The drive from Derby to Meriden wasn’t bad at all and we made it to the mall in good time.

Once we got there and listened to the history of the store, you can tell that the Boscov’s team is excited about opening here. They really enjoy their customers and standing out from the other department stores. As we got the grand tour, we got to see right away one of the biggest things that makes them stand out the most: a homemade candy counter! Boscov’s makes their own candy right in the store and they have a HUMONGOUS selection. You can get pretty much any kind of chocolately dream you want. They also sell Godiva to add to your chocolate hangover. This is a definite must see when you visit.
One of the highlights of the trip was being able to meet the Chairman of Boscov’s, Mr. Albert Boscov. He was walking throughout the store the entire day shaking hands and thanking people for coming. He was so sweet and wonderful to meet. He is a man who truly appreciates the people who shop in his store.

What I enjoyed about my Boscov trip was the vast selection of merchandise and how they don’t use coupons. They keep everything low priced year round to help you reap the savings. No more cutting tons of coupons or forgetting them at home. Everything is listed for you right there in the store. The prices are great too!
(Anybody looking for a new Crock Pot?)
I was able to get some shopping in and thanks to the low prices I was able to get a new winter coat, jeans, a sweater and two scarves for under $100. I could have walked out with everything if I didn’t have those darn bills I have to pay.

I really loved their home decor section. They had tons of items to decorate for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. You can get your house set for the next three months in one visit!
(I love these table pieces)
(Tons of decorating options)
We ended our trip by taking a walk through the furniture department which surprised me as I didn’t realize they would have that along with everything else in that store but they had a ton of options. I took part in several couch testings, and I approve of how comfortable they were.

My thoughts on Boscov’s is that it’s absolutely somewhere that I would come back to and shop again. The employees were friendly and helpful and every section of the store is easy to find without getting lost. You should make the trip to Meriden and see for yourself. If you are able to come visit between October 10th-17th, you will get a chance to see Shirley Jones. She is performing twice a day at 2 and 7 pm with her son, Patrick Cassidy. There auditorium is right by the candy counter, don’t forget to get some fudge while you are there!
Disclaimer: I was invited to preview Boscov’s however all opinions are my own.
