Last Minute Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies

It’s December! Christmas is right around the corner and it’s the time of cookies everywhere. I made these one weekend and they were gone quick! Between my husband and my son they didn’t have a chance to go stale. These cookies are different because they use a special ingredient not normally found in cookies. Curious? Check it out……

Ingredients:

2 cups flour

1 tablespoon salt

1 tablespoon baking soda

1 cup melted butter

3/4 cup sugar

1 tablespoon maple syrup

2 eggs

2 cups mini chocolate chips

Instructions:

1) Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

2) Mix all ingredients in bowl.

3) Roll in small balls and place a few inches apart on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

4) Bake for 10 minutes. Let cool slightly before placing on rack to cool completely.

Now the fun fact about maple syrup is that it can be used as a substitute for vanilla extract if you ever run out. You can just use the same measurement of syrup that you would for vanilla. I think the maple syrup gives the cookies a slightly different, great taste. It doesn’t overwhelm at all so it’s a perfect ingredient, especially if you are like me and always have some on hand.
