As a food blogger, I often get the opportunity to preview new cookbooks before they hit the shelves. When I got asked to check out the newest book, Always Delicious, which is the companion to Always Hungry, that came out in 2016. It really dives into the science behind why weight is such a problem even after counting all your calories and getting your exercise. The problem is what we are eating, specifically not enough fat.
What I found interesting about the book right away is that it doesn’t talk down to you. It goes right into the subject and speaks about how the low fat fade that took over the ’80’s and ’90s has left some lasting damage in that we are not giving our bodies enough fat. Not all fat is bad and it serves a purpose in our overall diet.
This book starts you off slow by giving you a starting meal plan to slowly lower your carb intake and up your fat. This is very similar to the Keto diet in that you are using a higher fat macro to sustain your appetite so you don’t want to snack as much during the day. It works in three phases to really have your body begin to work at optimal levels. The book also features testimonials from followers of the diet who has noticed changes such as weight loss, less inflammation and lowering of blood pressure.
There are a ton of delicious recipes in here that will help you meal plan and stock your kitchen to prevent any slip-ups. This is a wonderful way to begin a lifestyle change if you don’t want a restrictive diet and want to improve your health. You can find a copy of the book here.
